Transformer - iPads in disguise

Well, what can I say - the title says it all.
I have blown the companies thank you cash payment (all £284 of it, and then some!) on an Asus eee pad transformer.
For those of you that dont know what it is - it is a tablet which comes with a keyboard attachment.

The tablet itself is very good - a little heavier than the iPad, however it runs on Android 3.1 (upgraded ~ two weeks after the release of the new software).
It has a very high quality screen, very responsive to the touch, with loads of space for apps. Angry birds is free too on android.
was contemplating getting a kindle for my birthday, however I dont think I will need one now, as the app on this tab is actually really nice.
Google maps works a dream, and it is amazing how you can use multitouch to swish the map around, and zoom in and out.

the keyboard attachment works really well also - it turns the tab into a neat netbook, which makes typing all this a damn sight easier than doing it on the onscreen keyboard. Also you can see so much more without the keboard hogging a large percentage of the screen.

The other plus points - the keyboard has its own battery, which charges the tab when connected - so prolongs battery life significantly.
It also has TWO full size USB slots, which now allows you to connect what ever you want to - even PS3 or XBOX controllers!
There is also a full sized SD card slot - so I can connect my card from my camera right into this device - there are going to be significantly more photos appearing soon!!!
Whilst we are talking about memory, the tab also has a micro SD card slot, so I can increased storage on the tab also.
There is also a mini HDMI cable, so I can hook the tab up to my TV if I so desired - I imagine I could play Angry birds with a PS3 controller on my 42 inch TV if I so wished!!!

Anyhow - this all means that I think that my latest purchase beats the iPad hands down, and only cost a fraction more than the lowest priced iPad.
Unfortunately for Sam - this means that I might be speaking to her less for a while as i get to grips with my new toy!!

New forest trip

Latest Kay family outing was to the new forest. This brings back great memories for me as my grandpa lived here for quite some time. We used to come visit regularly, and go for walks in the forest.

We went camping this time, in our fairly new tent. Stupidly, we forgot to air it last time, and we spent a while cleaning it after we put it up. Much thanks to auntie Liz!

First night was fine, grace slept well which was great. We went to for a walk near lyndhurst, and saw some very timid deer. Then had a picnic at the reptile center, grace saw some real life snakes.... ssssssss!!!!!!

Second night was not so good, ponies were charging around the tents. Liz thought she was going to get squished, and so did I sometimes!

Next day we went for a walk in the forest again, where there was a river, grace spent ages throwing stones into the river. We then took a trip to visit grandpas grave, still looking clean and tidy. A shame he never got to meet grace and sam. Liz went home, and we went to see some big trees. Giant redwoods and sequoia, as you can see they were very big compared to grace!

Saturday was coming home time, via legoland, our second free visit in three days! Got to love them merlin passes!!

Punting on the cam

Went to Cambridge yesterday and spent most of the day Punting out towards granchester. Brian was a dab hand, and looks as if he would feel at home in Venice!

I had a go second, and spent most of the time backing out of dense brush on the side of the cam.

Sam had a go, which was funny, as we zigzagged down the river like a drunk duck! However she managed to avoid sticking it into the bank, unlike me!

Pat had a go last, and was also a dab hand, managing to keep the punt on the straight and narrow.

I took over for the last stretch, and bar one visit to give my passengers a very close look at the botannical variety along the cam, I managed to redeem my poor driving with a paking maneuver that would probably impress super tanker captains!

Ah - you have probably noticed I haven't mentioned gracie yet! She had a whale of a time, spending most of the time leaning over the punt trying to pickup any flotsam and jetsam that drifted past. Which gave me the heebie-de-beejeebies most of the time, however how else can you keep a 23 month old busy on a small boat on a river!

Right that wraps up the family Punting trip, bizarrely I am doing it again today, taking my Uni friends on a tour of Cambridge!

Visit to wells next the sea.

Popped over to the coast to see the sea. Unfortunately it was miles out, so built sand castles instead!

Few days off!!

We have a few days off this week as our babysitters have swanned off on holiday! (How dare they!) We went to visit auntie Liz for a couple of days. Which was good apart from all the rain! Going to be doing some painting over the next couple of days.

Oh, this is my first post from my new fangled Android smart phone!
